Rules for
Posting
Welcome to the Kingdom Forum
Board! We encourage you to post your thoughts, observations,
and comments regarding
The New Jersey Renaissance Kingdom,
the Annual Haunted Village,
and other related topics. The community and spirit of
our Kingdom are
legendary. We therefore invite you to join that fellowship of family
and friends by sharing your ideas with us!
In order to post a message, click on the
Post Message link on the left side of your
screen. Then fill out the following fields:
- Name:
- Choose a nickname for yourself the first time you
post to the Board. Type this nickname into the
Name:
field each time you post. You should use the same nickname each and
every time you post, and avoid any nicknames used by other established
posters. We will not display anonymous posts.
Please keep in
mind that your IP Address (your personal identity on the Internet) will
be forwarded along with your message. All of your posts will therefore
be linked together by this IP Address, regardless of your nickname.
- Email:
- You must include your own valid email address each
time you post.
Any post we receive without a valid email address will be deleted. Keep
in mind that we will occasionally send you a confirmation email before
posting your message. If you do not wish your email address to be seen
by others, then click the special box that says
Do not
include: beneath your email address.
- Subject:
- This is the line of text that will be seen on our
Main Board, along
with your nickname and the date you posted. By clicking on this
Subject, viewers will be taken to the content of your Message. Please
do not type any words in your Subject with all capital letters. The
Webmaster uses
all caps for words like UPDATE
or OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT in order to direct special
attention to official Dunn-Ley posts.
- Message:
- This is where you type the main body of your message.
Do not send
messages that contain little or no text (for example, messages that
just read
nt or no text ). Also,
please do not write your message in all capital letters; this is
otherwise known as shouting.
- Add Post To:
- This is an optional field. If you’d like to
have your post added
onto an existing post (instead of appearing as a new heading), pick the
Subject of the post you’d like to be added onto. Note:
Users will not be able to access your post directly if you use this
feature.
You can enter the
following codes to format your post:
Disclaimer
Your message will be reviewed by a
representative of
Dunn-Ley
Productions. If it is deemed appropriate for the Forum Board, it will
probably be posted on the Main Board within a day or two. Some posts
will be responded to directly via email without being posted on the
Board. Others, if deemed inappropriate, will simply be deleted.
Dunn-Ley Productions reserves the right
to post, not
post, or
delete any message which is sent to us. We also reserve the right to
edit posts for content and/or length. It is also possible (although
improbable) that either your email address (if you requested it not be
included) or IP Address will mistakenly be seen by others on the Forum
Board. Please do not attempt to post a message if one of the
above
possibilities will either offend you or be disagreeable to you.
What are inappropriate
posts?
- Posts which include profanity, harshness of
tone, or verbal abuse
of others will not be tolerated. Please keep in mind that your IP
Address is forwarded to us, which directly links your
real
identity to your post. Please be considerate and thoughtful of
others’
feelings whenever you post. Also remember that we only put on family
shows, and therefore words or ideas that are inappropriate for family
entertainment should be excluded from your posts.
- Posts which are chat-oriented are
discouraged. One sentence
responses that go back and forth between two posters (or a group of
posters) are not appropriate for this particular Bulletin Board. If you
wish to send a brief response to someone, then send them an email
(provided they have asked us to include it for them as part of their
message).
- Personal statements not meant for the larger
Forum Board community
should not be sent to us. For example, you should not page your friends
or discuss local gossip on the Forum Board. Please use email for these
sorts of exchanges.
- Other posts may be deemed inappropriate at
Dunn-Ley Productions’ sole discretion.
What kinds of posts
should I send?
The best kinds of posts to send are
observations,
critiques, general
comments, or questions regarding events sponsored by Dunn-Ley,
or
regarding the content and features of this web site. Off-topic comments
which might be of interest to other patrons of
this Bulletin Board are
also welcome (see below for examples). Special announcements (births,
weddings, engagements, etc.) related to the
participants and patrons of
the Kingdom are also welcome.
Here
are some examples of subjects which would be welcome on the Forum Board:
- Comments on this year’s Enchanted
Forest....
- Here are some questions regarding my visit to
your fair tomorrow....
- Suggestions to improve one of your shows....
- Great job this year! Here’s a recap
of my visit....
- Things I wish you would change in the gaming
area....
- Some great medieval movies I’ve
seen recently....
- Here are some of my favorite Renaissance
festivals....
- Congratulations to Harry and Sally! They just
had a new baby girl!...
Here are some
examples of inappropriate posts:
- I sure do hate (blah, blah, blah)
- Why is it that (blank) is such a (blank)?
- I have a date this Saturday!
- Who’s here today?
- Everyone post your age
- !@#$!@#$!!
How often should I
post?
In order to avoid having the Board
cluttered up, we
ask everyone to
limit their posts to approximately one each week. We hope to
promote an environment where visitors post interesting, meaningful
observations
which everyone who visits our website will want to read.
We have often
received such posts in the past and we treasure them the most.
If you have a simple question to ask
(one or two
sentences), we
might simply respond to you directly via email without posting your
question on the Board (unless we feel that others might have the same
question). You should try to send posts which are at least one or
two
paragraphs long, so that readers will not be disappointed when they
click on your Subject line. Conversely, you should avoid
overly long
posts, because dozens of extremely long posts will take a long time for
our representative to review and will slow
down the posting process.
How can I read older
posts?
We periodically remove posts from the
Main Board in
order to avoid
clutter. However, we have saved all of our posts since March
2000 in a
special Forum
Board Archive, which you can view by clicking the link on the
left side of your screen.
We hope
you enjoy your
experiences with the Kingdom Forum Board. We hope to hear from you soon!
