Bird Eats Baby

Birdeatsbaby’s name was literally dreamt up by bandleader Mishkin Fitzgerald, back in her teens after a particularly long bout of insomnia. Often sleep deprived and on medication the flame haired singer would have strong hallucinations and nightmares, resulting in most of the material from the band’s first record “Here She Comes-a-Tumblin’”. Fitzgerald, having had most of her musical training at church, was strongly influenced by hymns, classical music and later on, all things rock n roll.

Joined by Garry Mitchell (guitar, bass, double bass) when the two met studying music at University in Brighton, a thriving musical partnership was formed, with a mutual love for dark and progressive music. After a few line-up changes the band has now settled with Forbes Coleman on drums (also the band’s producer), and Hana Maria on violin.

Over the years the band’s sound has changed drastically, starting out in the punk cabaret scene, and now progressing into to a huge stadium rock sound with orchestral layers, bold guitars and intricate arrangements, comparable with other musical oddities such as Muse, Kate Bush, Evanescence and even Marilyn Manson. If other bands try to fit in with musical trends then Birdeatsbaby are sticking out like a bunch of sore thumbs.

The band has amassed a cult-like following across the world (aptly named “The Flock”) and been able to successfully crowd-fund each of their releases through the help of their fans, namely their 2014 release “The Bullet Within” which raised £11,000 on Kickstarter. The band have also had support from some high name artists including Amanda Palmer & Neil Gaiman, and toured extensively in UK, mainland Europe, America and Mexico.

Now back with their fourth studio album “TANTA FURIA” (co-produced by Coleman and Fitzgerald), Birdeatsbaby have returned with a soundtrack for the soulful, haunting, riotous celebration of life in all it’s heavenly highs and drowning lows. The album goes deep and hits home in all the most human ways possible, this is a bold, artistic concept record. From the filthy, sexy dirge “Temple” where Mishkin snarls “if my body is a temple, desecrate me”, to the bleak and poignant “Eulogy”, a fitting end to the record “now that I’m grown I just sink like a stone through the comfort of gravity”.

Birdeatsbaby are the genuine article, a close-knit group of friends, intent on finishing the story together. Now let the music speak for itself.

Furious / Screamin’ Rebel Angels

Ruthless, gritty and hellbent Rock 'n' Roll!!! This trio hail from the streets of Liverpool and are being tipped as the UK's break-out band! With a relentless touring schedule, FURIOUS have been cemented as one of the hardest working & wildest live acts around. Their appeal crosses so many borders and with their self penned songs about teenage life today, they are turning the world's kids onto a wild Rock 'n' Roll beat.

Even from their early days playing in youth clubs around Liverpool, they caused a big stir! Their first single, the ASBO shuffle became an anthem at Liverpool football club, their debut album reached number 10 in the UK vinyl charts (above Elton John & Thin Lizzy) and more recently, their music has been featured on the computer game 'Rock Band' as well as a Dolce & Gabanna ad campaign in the USA.

They have played countless gigs abroad, all over the world touring with the likes of Glen Matlock of The Sex Pistols, Slim Jim Phantom, UB40 and they've even had a beer named after them! This is the real roots of Rock 'n' Roll, so prepare yourself, Furious ain't for the faint hearted! - MOJO Magazine

Screamin’ Rebel Angels are a Rock ‘n Roll force of nature hailing from Brooklyn, NY, fronted by the dynamic soul-shouting, blues beltin’, sweet purring of vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Laura Rebel Angel, paired with the blistering, stratospheric lead guitar of Brian “Bobo” Hack. Their head-turning, jaw-dropping performances are untamed adventures that invoke the primitive energy of early Rock ‘n Roll and Rockabilly, and emotion of 1950s Rhythm & Blues and Soul.

Those new to the band are stunned by the power and energy of the group, as if witnessing the resurrection of rock and roll, stirring within them the raw, primitive passions which first electrified audiences at the genre’s inception. They are a force that has been igniting a musical blaze around the worldwide roots rock ‘n roll scene, and gaining a momentum that is cementing their unmistakable sound and authenticity -which is pure Rock ‘n Roll Revival.

NJ Proghouse presents: Discipline / Galactic Cowboy Orchestra

“Discipline weaves a wicked web of lush, whimsical melodies, cynical stories and melancholy theatricsso disturbing some fans have pegged lead-man Matthew Parmenter as ‘unstable,'” writes Heidi Olmac in Detroit’s Orbit newspaper. New Zealand rock critic Kev Rowland describes Discipline as “one of the most important bands to come out of America in the last 25 years.” The American band Discipline has performed and recorded together since 1987. The band has just finished recording its fifth studio album with current members Paul Dzendzel (drums), Mathew Kennedy (bass guitar), Chris Herin (lead guitar), and Matthew Parmenter (vocals and keyboards).

The Galactic Cowboy Orchestra  has been freakin’ minds for 6 years! Since 2009, the band has stretched their own musical limits with album after album of intensely energetic ART-ROCK. Definition of ART-ROCK: A type of rock music, often with poetic lyrics, characterized by sophisticated harmonic, dynamic and technical complexity based on forms derived from classical (and jazz) music and requiring performers of considerable training and skill. It sounds so serious, but when you combine that type of music with four fun-loving musicians who don’t take themselves too seriously and who have a love of so much music beyond art-rock (which is why the band covers songs from Otis Rush’s All Your Love to Whipping Post to When the Levee Breaks to YYZ), you get a bit of magic in live music form. The band writes and performs music that excites them and has a blast doing it! The GCO appreciates and aspires to superior musicianship while combining their love of a good riff, hummable melody and groovy jam… over a jazz/jazz-rock musical bedrock. It all culminates in an intensely energetic live performance because “we freakin’ love what we do and love that the fans dig it too!! ”
