Tank and The Bangas / Sweet Crude

Tank and The Bangas were formed in 2011 at an open mic set in New Orleans, centered at a shot gun house, Jerk Chicken Sam’iches and a drum set. Instantaneously this group knew that they had something that stirred crowds that cried out for original music from them. If you’re from New Orleans, you know all the ingredients to make a good gumbo. Your seasonings have to mix well, your roux has to be thick, and your meat has to be cut to perfection. Tank and The Bangas are what you call a great gumbo! Originating in New Orleans, Tank and The Bangas have all the qualities that relates them, to the city that birth them but a flair that separates them as well. Their performances range from being “One of the most energetic shows you’ll ever see” to “A gospel tent in Mississippi”. Rummaging through their sound like a thrift store hippie, you’ll find the Bangas to provoke a musical reference of Rhythmic Soul and Spoken word among other genres such as Rock, Gospel, Funk, and Folk. Combining the various musical technique among the Bangas, coupled with the instilling play on lyrics from the lead vocalist; Tank and The Bangas have quilted a unique sound that singles them as one of the most distinctive groups to come out of New Orleans.
Group members include Tank/ Lead vocalist/Norman Spence on Bass/keyboard, Joshua Johnson/Drums, Merell Burkett/keys/ Nita Bailey/Percussion; and various other Bangas.

Sweet Crude: We are indigenous to South Louisiana. We would like to show the world that we can make progressive music that also embraces this region's French-speaking tradition. We are joining a small but fervent group of young Louisianians engaged in keeping the language relevant via art. Also we would like to drink whiskey and dance all the time.

Kenny K & The Way / The Feudale Brothers Band / The Outcrops / Rhythm Rhynos

Kenny K & The Way bring you some gritty rockin' blues from the heart!

If you had to categorize the sound of the Feudale Brothers Band, it would be impossible because they are a category unto themselves. Based in Matawan, NJ, F.B.B. is a hard-rocking, blues inspired band, with a twist of alternative flare. What started as a part-time hobby for the band of brothers, eventually evolved into a full-time passion for writing, recording and playing varied styles of great music.

The Outcrops are a four-piece rock n roll band from way up north in Jersey. We groove to what we like, incorporating bits of the blues, folk, funk, jazz, and old country roots.

Whatever their distinctive characteristics may be, it's obvious that these guys are the real thing. No samples, no auto-tune,  no nonsense… just honest, gritty, well played rock made the way it’s meant to be heard, by quality musicians.

The Rhythm Rhynos provides a blend of roots rock, blues and classic rock into an especially rich musical gumbo. With its Hybrid Americana style of repertoire, the band offers uniquely interesting, tight arrangements that are a different take than what most other bands are doing today

Bushwick Hotel / Dinosaur Eyelids / Roi and The Secret People / The Foxfires

The Bushwick Hotel is a reimagining and reinterpretation of classic rock n roll flavor with modern retooling. “The band embraces today’s hybrid genres with touches of brass-band jazz and garage blues. The combination of sounds and conventions handpicked from the last fifty years of rock history combine into a potent, unexpected brew.” –Jack McManus Relix

Dinosaur Eyelids: "Many groups have claimed to be rock and roll, and while they undoubtedly were, very few can exemplify the scene’s various monumental sounds successfully in one album. This New Brunswick, New Jersey-based band has set the bar high for themselves, but with a raw talent like theirs, blowing away expectations seems like something they’re used to."-The Aquarian Weekly

Renowned for their exciting live shows, Roi and the Secret People (RSP) features the mesmerizing voice of Mike Roi and the musical talents of Craig Martyn on drums, Jason Hedrington on Moog/Keys, Glen Radomski on bass and Ed Golden on Guitar. Roi, who hails from South Florida, set out to assemble a group of talented, experienced, and like-minded musicians to create the version of rock music he wasraised with. Armed with all original music, RSP has played such renowned clubs as Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge and Arlene’s Grocery in New York City and The World Live Cafe,The Northstar Bar, The Tin Angel, and The Legendary Dobbs in Philadelphia.

The Foxfire's sound was forged by the ethereal and sometimes dark nature of post-punk and shoegaze bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Ride, and Joy Division; the bouncy Indie Pop nature of bands such as The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club, and Foals; and the summery beachy, and experimental folk sounds of bands like Wilco, Milo Greene, and Mumford and Son. The sound became known as "Seagaze" which was inspired by the band's collective love of the beach and the ocean. "Seagaze" is often described by the band as the sound you would want to feel while you're looking out at the ocean and is also inspired by Bruce Lee's speech about being like water- able to flow and open to change.

Bob Lanza Blues Band with special guest Steve Krase / Above Ground Blues Band

There is only one way to play the blues: From the heart with ferocity as if your life depends on it.

Singer, songwriter and guitarist Bob Lanza from the wilds of north New Jersey leaves no doubt as to motivation with a scorching second release following his debut Things Ain’t So Bad (2009). Years with Floyd Phillips and the Mudflaps and backing legends like James Cotton prepared his audition as a new blues guitar hero.

"Long recognized as one of the top blues harmonica players in the Houston area, Steve Krase shoots for big league prominence on his latest release Should've Seen It Coming - eleven tracks (plus two bonus tracks) of party blues meant to be played loud for maximum effect. A lot of albums featuring the blues harp get redundant fast with the same droning sound but Krase eases back and plays a minimal amount of notes with maximum results. His harp playing is bright and melodic and without show boating. "

Greg Allen’s Fringe Religion / The Accelerators / Dicks Electric / The Cuts

Greg Allen’s Fringe Religion is a Boston-based band that formed in 2013 - but they are hardly beginners when it comes to rock and roll. Singer, guitar player and songwriter Greg Allen was in a band with the late great Jerry Nolan (drummer for the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers). But Greg Allen is no Johnny Thunders clone. Yes, he’s got that guttersnipe, raw guitar tone but he has a unique song writing style that evokes a dystopic world through a cast of twisted characters.

Allen has released a number of recordings (including those famous last songs with Jerry Nolan) and has done some time with the underground in London and New York. He is joined by bass player Greg Steinbaugh (Two Saints, Port Charles Quintet, World's Greatest Sinners, Prime Movers) and drummer Daley Jones (Two Saints in Boston, Middleman Bob, The Press, Trigger Happy in his hometown Seattle).

The music is rock and roll with a nod to all the greats. The band sounds simultaneously familiar and fresh. Hints of classic arena rock, power pop, sleazy glam, proto punk, gut bucket blues and even some country honk serve as backdrop to Allen's unique story telling. Its pure rock and roll, the kind they don't make anymore.  Come see Greg Allen's Fringe Religion and restore your faith in rock and roll.

The Accelerators are a Union, New Jersey based punk band. The band, influenced largely by the Ramones, was started by singer/bass player Ron Nole in 1980

Loud, Fast, and Fun!! The Cuts bring old school punk into a new light. With Mohawk Dave on Guitar and lead vocals, and Bre Plaza on drums and vocals this band is a force to be reckoned with!! The Sky is the limit, and the future is bright.

Crash NY / Cowbell Superstar / Jana Peri / Triple Goddess

Cara Crash is an east coast rocker who started playing electric guitar at the age of 6, reading and composing music.Although she plays rhythm guitar now, she was awarded one of the top lead guitar players in NJ at the age of 9 (the only girl). Her CD "Crashin' Out" is doing well and has created quite a fan following.

COWBELL SUPERSTAR is a new and exciting band carrying the torch of 70's glam with a fresh slant. There's a touch of good ole punk and metal sprinkled in there too.

Influenced by the British Invasion rock of the 1960s, as well as the punk and new wave of the 1970s and 1980s, NYC vocalist/songwriter/guitarist JANA PERI and her band: Jacob Callis (bass guitar/background vocals) and Rob Holm (drums/percussion/background vocals) specialize in hook-laden, harmony-filled power pop/rock that is aggressive yet melodic.

JANA was a winner of ROCKRGRL's Discoveries contest with the song “Dating Sucks” from her self-titled, debut EP. Other critically acclaimed releases include Catching Flies With Vinegar, produced by Daniel Rey (Ramones, Ronnie Spector), the humorous single “I Hate The Holidays (But I Love Spending Them With You)” and “Gallery Whore,” a danceable ode to art gallery party-hopping.

Triple Goddess plays huge, ass kicking Rock & Roll. Their hard-hitting sound stems from working class South Jersey roots and a wide array of influences spanning virtually every era of heavy rock music. Pure Power, the group's self released debut EP is out now.
